The hand weaving of wicker objects is one of the few remaining traditional Polish handicrafts, with knowledge being handed down from generation to generation. Wicker baskets, which have always been a part of Polish households, were used mainly for storing potatoes and vegetables. They are made mostly in small villages--woven from young, flexible willow twigs.
